Car won't crank after getting gas. My car runs fine normally with no issues stalling or killing the motor. Priming the fuel pump will remove any air that may have gotten into the lines as a result of the vehicle running out of fuel. Car won't start after filling up the gas tank.

Same result after several attempts over a few minutes. Found a gas station around 30 miles ahead, purchased three cans of heet, dumped that in, then running nice again. The last 3 times i filled up my car with gas i had trouble starting it.

If your headlights can turn on, but your car won't crank, that means that your battery is charged, but either the starter or ignition is the problem. 27 people found this helpful. We took it to ford and they replaced the gass pipe filter. The fuel pump in the fuel tank is kept cool with the fuel in the tank.

My car won't start after i put gas in it. It happened a couple of weeks ago, and two days later the engine light came on. After i've driven for a few minutes, it runs fine.

Finally i tapped the gas peddle immediately after it cranked over and it rev'ed and stayed running. Most of the time, if your car suddenly will crank and not start after fueling, it is because of a failed fuel pump. If the engine cranks, but the car won't start:
